Tart “like granny used to make” - recipe
Regional speciality Prague Environs
Cooking time:40 min
This delicious bramble and nut tart will remind many of the times when granny would shoo away the children from a steaming treat, fresh from the oven, claiming their tummies would ache if they ate the hot pastry. So leave it to cool a little while - though your taste buds may not hold out very long!
Ingredients:
| 300 g flour 200 g butter 2 egg yolks 80 g sugar ¼ sachet of baking powder ½ sachet of vanilla |
sugar zest of one lemon bramble marmalade walnuts fat and wholemeal flour to line the baking tin |
Instructions:
Make a dough from the flour (sieved), butter, sugar, eggyolks, baking powder, vanilla sugar and lemon zest. Leave this to cool for around 30 minutes. Then use 2/3 of the dough to line a baking tin around 30cm across, after covering the bottom and sides with a layer of fat and flour. Spoon in the bramble marmalade, and with the remaining dough fashion long strips which you then use to form a grid on the top of the tart. Fill gaps in the grid with walnuts. Put the baking tin into an oven on medium heat and bake till golden brown.
