Moravian onion soup with smoked meat - recipe

Are you also under the false impression that onion soup hails from France? Well, this may be the case, and this recipe may have been pilfered by a Moravian housewife from one of Napoleon’s soldiers as they headed for the Battle of Austerlitz. Or perhaps the good folk of Moravia came up with this simple dish long before the French arrived. The main thing is that it still tastes as good as ever!
Ingredients:
| 800 g stock 100 g white wine 150 g onion 80 g oil |
5g fresh pepper 80 g smoked meat 10 g chives |
Instructions:
Fry the roughly chopped onion in the oil. Add fresh pepper and then pour in the wine and stock. Cook for a short while. Serve the soup with fried and sliced smoked meat and chopped chives.
