Regional speciality Czech-Moravian Highlands
Cooking time:40 min
Would you ever think of adding pepper to gingerbread? If we were to suggest this, you’d probably consider us mad and ask us where we got such an idea – nothing hot goes into this sweet treat which lovers like to exchange, does it? Well, this time we’ll leave out the black spice, but the original recipe really did contain it, proof being that the Czech for gingerbread is actually derived from the word for pepper.
Ingredients:
| 2-3 eggs 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons sugar around 200 g honey 500 g medium flour |
1 packet of gingerbread spice 50-80 g nuts fat for greasing the baking tray flour |
Instructions:
Put the egg yolks, butter and sugar into a mixing bowl and whisk until frothy. Then pour in the warm honey. Slowly mix in a blend of the flour, gingerbread spice and grated nuts. Lighten with the beaten egg whites.
Put the resulting dough onto a baking tray greased with the fat and coated with flour. Bake in a medium oven.
