Grenadier march - recipe

Grenadier march is a dish straight from a military cookbook: simple, cheap, quick and filling. The ideal dinner for soldiers and civvies alike!
Ingredients:
| 400 g pasta tablespoon of fat 500 g potatoes 100 g pork fat 1 large onion |
caraway seeds ground pepper salt oil |
Instructions:
Boil the pasta in salt water containing a little oil until soft. Drain off the water and add a tablespoon of fat. Peel the potatoes, cut into pieces and boil in water with salt and caraway seeds until soft. Fry the pork fat until it begins to turn golden brown then throw in the chopped onion and fry until everything takes on a bit of colour.
Mix together the pasta, potatoes and fat; season with salt and pepper. Serve with gherkins or gherkin salad and natural yoghurt.
