Cooking time:45 min
Goulash was once the dish of Hungarian shepherds, but today it is enjoyed by almost all of Europe. In Bohemia and Moravia there are several tried and tested recipes for great goulash. While the ingredients vary, the way they are washed down is almost always the same – with a cool glass of Czech beer!
Ingredients:
| 400 g beef 400 g tinned red and white beans in tomato sauce 3 tomatoes 1 paprika 2 large onions 3 tablespoons fat 1 piece of stale bread, ground |
2 cloves of garlic ground paprika (sweet and hot) marjoram caraway seeds pepper salt |
Instructions:
Dice up the meat and place in a frying pan, in which you have sweated down some onions. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and ground paprika, cover with hot water and simmer with the lid on until almost soft. Then add the beans and more water, thicken with pieces of bread and cook some more. Season with the rest of the spices and crushed garlic. Serve with bread.
