How the Czech Republic was tasted in London

22.7.2010 | Restaurant reviews

I was leaving for London with mixed feelings. Will our project “Czech Specials or Taste the Czech Republic“ get by here?

Our aim was to introduce the Czech Republic through the Czech cuisine.

A huge London festival “Taste of London“ which was held from 17 to 20 of June seemed to be perfect for that. Apart from renowned London restaurants there were samples of Asian and European cuisines and we also presented the Czech cuisine there. Cheese, pastry, chocolate, beer, spirits and wine producers from different countries presented themselves. Shortly - festival full of tastes and flavors. Our fears that the stand will be a “cinderella“ of the festival fortunately proved to be wrong. Value added was nice weather and so more than 50.000 visitors came in four days.

From the Czech cuisine they could sample chicken escalope with potato salad, beef goulash with traditional Czech bread, cabbage salad and sweet wedding buns as a desert.

And renowned Czech beer – Pilsner Urquell – couldn’t be missed. During all four days our stand with Czech specials was very busy. We were happy that people were interested not only in food and beer but also in the Czech Republic itself. Not only in Prague as usually but also in Moravia, Southern Bohemia and other regions.

We hope that we managed to reach the target group which will be able to ”taste” the Czech Republic properly.
